It has been great pooling ideas together with Thomas for our project! Having been discussing what our visions would be really did bring us together to develop an even stronger goal of what product we aimed to achieve.
As we are living in such a fast paced environment, I wanted our product to be easy to use and accessible, as well as informative yet interactive. Initial thoughts included making an app. In a world where we are heavy consumers of technology and smart phones I had an urge to create an app which could be educational and fun to use in the music classroom, particularly for younger students.
First thought - providing a real experience: playing an instrument without having to learn the skills of technique, but more so of an approach towards "playing" and having an understanding bewteen sound and the related instrument. For example, creating a fingerboard and the four strings of a violin then building "notes" on the fingerboard (all on the screen of an iPhone) to be pressed to trigger a sound. How to make it visual as well? Attach it to a shell of the violin - attach phone to a holder and slide it up and down the real fingerboard to mimic the action of "playing the violin".
